How our tables are made

(beneath the tile or marble)

A tile table's durability starts beneath the surface. We do not cut corners as the following steps attest to.

Beneath The Surface:

Rotas Mosaic Tile Table Construction - built to last Step 1. ALL of our tables have a metal rim to protect the edges. Without a metal rim your table stands a very good chance of being damaged.

Step 2. Our larger sized tables have either a ½" or 3/4" plywood subsurface. Smaller tables we use ½" to 5/8" cement fiber board (Hardiboard)

Step 3. If we use the plywood, a thick coat of epoxy Resin is applied to the bottom.

Step 4. A 1/4" cement fiber board (Hardiboard) is glued to the plywood.

Step 5. Silicone caulking is applied between the fiber board and metal rim so water cannot penetrate to the Rotas Mosaic custom built stone and tile tables - Floor Inlay RoadRunnerwood.

Step 6. A water proof adhesive is used to adhere each individual hand cut tile or marble piece to the cement fiber board.

Step 7. We mix our polymer-based grout with a 4/1 mixture of water and adhesive to give the grout a superb binding power. This is Much stronger than just water.

Step 8. The grout and natural stone or marble are then sealed with a commercial sealer.
